Lisa Mokleby
My name is Lisa Mokleby and I am currently located in Saskatchewan, Canada. In May 2004, I received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Saskatchewan. In September of that year, I moved to New York for graduate studies and obtained a Master’s of Science in Forensic Science degree from Pace University. During my studies, I interned at the Suffolk County Crime Laboratory in Hauppauge, NY and completed my Master’s thesis. In March 2007, I started working as a Forensic DNA Analyst for the Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in the Forensic Biology Department in Manhattan.
During my six years at the OCME, I was in the Homicides and Sex Crimes Group where I examined many types of evidence for blood, semen, and saliva. I also obtained and interpreted DNA profiles from that evidence. During that time, I had been assigned over six hundred and eighty cases and examined thousands of items of evidence. In 2009, I qualified as an expert witness, helping lawyers prepare for trial and testifying in cases pertaining to sexual assaults, assaults, and homicides. Some of these cases also involved “cold hits” from the CODIS databank. I have testified in Grand Jury and Trial in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan Courts.
After seeing a significant need for second opinion and lack of DNA training in the legal community, I decided to start my own Forensic DNA Consulting firm in 2013. Since then, I have trained lawyers, given lectures, and consulted on many cases in Canada and the United States. I have also been accepted as an expert witness and testified in Canada.
